Crowdfunding Project for the Restoration and Digitization of Urbino GUF Photos

One of the most significant collections held at the Urbino Section is that of the GUF (Fascist University Group) of Urbino, from 1926 to 1943.

The collection consists of 111 envelopes, 10 registers, and 1 box.

It contains two photo albums containing 150 black-and-white positive photographs, as well as approximately 50 loose photographic prints. The images are particularly valuable as they document university life at the time: visits by officials, study, educational trips, sports, and even recreational activities.

Their state of preservation is precarious and requires professional restoration.

The Project

Our project aims to restore and digitize the entire photographic collection of the GUF, making it accessible to all through the Ministry of Culture's National Archives portal.

The project's stages are as follows:

- professional restoration of the photographs;

- digitization;

- publication on the Ministry of Culture's National Archives portal, making them freely accessible to all.

The Collection

The Cassa di Risparmio di Pesaro Foundation has recognized the importance of the project, admitting it to the 2026 crowdfunding campaign in collaboration with Rete del Dono and allocating €3,000 for the project, which will be disbursed against the same amount of funds raised through the crowdfunding campaign by the State Archives.

We therefore need the help of our users and friends to reach the sum of €3,000, needed to benefit from the Cassa di Risparmio di Pesaro Foundation's contribution and complete the first step of the project.

The "Salta nella Storia" crowdfunding campaign starts on April 15 and ends on July 15, 2026.

Donations made by legal entities benefit from the tax breaks provided by the Art Bonus, with a tax credit equal to 65% of the donated amount.

To contribute, you can make a donation through the Rete del Dono platform:

The GUF (Italian Fascist Movements) were founded in Italian universities in the 1920s as student associations that recognized the program of the Fascist Fascist Movement; from 1927, they were placed under the control of the National Fascist Party.

The areas of activity were diverse and encompassed all aspects of student life:

- Political and cultural activities, including theater, film, radio, art, press, and political education;

- Study assistance, through the preparation and distribution of educational materials and the organization of assistance for university exam preparation.

- Sports activities, through the organization of Agonali, Littoriali dello Sport, and Mountaineering and Maritime Weeks;

- Welfare activities, through accommodation, student cafeterias, and medical clinics.
