Presentation of the book “Giancarlo De Carlo - The Urbino Project.
On Tuesday, December 16th, at 6:00 PM in the Castellani Hall of the Raffaello College in Urbino, the Urbino State Archives Section is presenting the book "Giancarlo De Carlo - The Urbino Project. An Example of Urban Pedagogy between History and Innovation" by Tiziana Fuligna.
Published on the twentieth anniversary of the great architect's death, the book traces the genesis of the urban and cultural project that, starting in the 1950s, transformed Urbino into a laboratory of innovation ahead of its time. At its core is the dialogue between politics, architecture, pedagogy, and the local area, sparked by the meeting between Carlo Bo and Giancarlo De Carlo. From a simple consultancy project, a far-reaching cultural and urban planning project was born, founded on a shared vision of space as an expression of collective life. Through direct sources, documents, and critical reflections, the essay conveys the profound meaning of an intellectual and operational alliance that transformed the face of the University and the city of Urbino. The author, Tiziana Fuligna, an art historian, essayist, and art curator, graduated in Contemporary Art History from the University of Urbino, where she taught Industrial Archaeology and Contemporary Art History. A scholar of the work and figure of Giancarlo De Carlo, she has edited monographs and essays on his design and the Urbino context. The author of numerous critical contributions to catalogs and journals, she has explored topics related to architecture, industrial archaeology, and contemporary art.
